Fashion Challenge Day Two: Your Jewelry Box

I've had this box for quite a few years. It was at my ex boyfriend's house when I lived there and he just gave it to me when I moved out. I have no idea where it came from, but I dig it. Now the thing is stuffed with jewelry — it used to be because I worked at Claire's and got so much for free (yes, you heard me). Nowadays I'm pickier about the jewelry I buy. I either make my own or pick it up at a thrift store. I love stones and teeth. I used to never like rings, but my collection is growing.

Another place that I have found lots of good jewelry is Etsy. Do you have any favorite places to buy jewelry?

Fashion Challenge Day One: Your Closet

So I'm taking up this 30-Day-Fashion-Challenge that has been floating around Tumblr. Today is day one, which means I get to share with you my closet. More after the jump.

We were invited to one cookout today, but Geoff was feeling a little under the weather so we took a short walk. It was boiling hot today so we are rather okay with it. We had time to spring clean the apartment a bit and I finally got around to spring cleaning my closet. I bought these leopard shorts at Urban back in January when we went to Chicago. They’re a size medium, but since I’ve lost a bit of weight, they weren’t even close to fitting me any longer. I had a small pile of clothes to alter, so I just stitched these up each side and now they fit better than they did when I first purchased them! I’m so excited that I don’t have to donate/sell my favorite shorts :) I nabbed this small denim backpack at the thrift store on Saturday for a dollar or so. A while ago, I lost my favorite wolf ring (aptly named “Toby”) and I found i today at the bottom of my over-stuffed jewelry box. As for the Felix the Cat ring? I found it while I was cleaning underneath fixtures at work. It’s a pretty cheap ring, but adorable nonetheless. Outfit details after the jump.

Blouse-to-Tank DIY

Here's a simple DIY tutorial on how to turn a blouse into a cute and summer tank. Click on the image to view a larger photo. All you need are the following items:

A blouse. I used a silky button up with a crazy chain-and-belt pattern. I got this at the thrift store for 75 cents.
A tank that you can use as a pattern. I have a striped xhileration tank that I thrifted that has a really nice fit, so I typically use it for a pattern. It also helps to use a tank that is made out of a similar material to the blouse you have selected.

Dinosaur Day.

Our original plans for the day were to bike down to COSI and see the new dinosaur exhibit. By the time Geoff was home from his skateboarding adventure, it had already reached 90° and was quite windy. Since we had both had just showered, we decided to drive and pay for parking rather than get sticky and gross.

Geoffrey and I went to the Columbus Asian Festival today. It was really hot outside and crowded, so we didn't stay long. I figured for Memorial Day weekend I could bust out some major whites. I've had this Pendleton Dopp bag for quite some time now. It's getting pretty worn. Outfit details after the jump.

On the way to the grocery store, Geoffrey snapped these cute little photos of me on his iPhone. I'm getting more and more comfortable with my personal outfitting and am actually looking in the mirror and thinking "yes, I love this." I want to use my Lookbook account more. I've been educating Geoffrey on my plan to do so and I think he's gonna give me a helping hand by taking some photos. It's lovely to have a boyfriend who is both camera-ready and supporting.
