Thrifty Monday #4

Sigh. I enjoy waiting a few days to do these thrift hauls. It really gives me a good breather to hold onto them until Monday. If I expected myself to post the overviews directly after coming home, the whole thing would probably be filled with silly exclamation points at every sentence. I mean, really. I get so excited about my finds. This weekend was no different, except for the fact that I found a lot of crafty items this time! My usual spot doesn't have a lot of craft going on, but on Saturday we hit up two spots and I found some wonderful goods. See the breakdown after the jump.

  • 1980s Toni brown leather bag — The tassel is what drew my attention to it in the first place. Once I touched it, though, I fell in love. It's an amazingly soft leather, is large enough for my camera, and has multiple pockets on the inside. When I brought it home I vacuumed out the inside and now it's perfect!
  • Red floral print dress — It's a little too big for me, but I'm going to be altering it soon. I'm contemplating adding some sort of flair, but I haven't made up my mind yet.
  • H&M Striped Dress — This fits me well and is a boxy cut. I'm excited to wear it belted and with some cute mule wedges.... /fingers crossed/
  • 1990s Leopard Print cropped cardigan — I always seem to find leopard print, right? Well, it probably helps that when I see anything leopard sticking out of a rack, I pull it out and examine it. This cardigan is a good replacement for my old one that disappeared mysteriously, except better since it's cropped! Yummy!
  • Floral Maxi Dress — This is the dress that I bought for a dollar and wore during yesterday's outing. It's my first maxi dress and I love it!
  • Brown vintage leather heels — I wore these on Saturday as soon as I bought them. Can you blame me? I grabbed them for four dollars, and they were handmade in Italy. Did I mention that they're super comfortable?
  • Black Steve Madden heels — I have been wanting sandals similar to these for a while. I thought five dollars was a bit high, but they're in excellent condition (and in reality, that is really cheap... I was just in thrift mode) so I bought them.
  • Coral wide-brimmed hat — The photo makes it look like this has dark trim, but that's not the case. In fact, it has a bit of sheer parts around the outside and that's just the [ugly] carpet peeking.
  • Coral mesh bag — I'm pretty sure this is a beach bag, but I love the size and feel of it. I'm going to carry it as a normal bag either way.
  • Sewing patterns — Patterns are always thirty cents each where I shop. I got a great pattern for a boxy top and another set for the cutest little plush animals! I want to make some silly little guys out of my extra fabrics.
  • Embroidery kit — Instructions and supplies to make an embroidered picture. I did a bunch of stuff like this when I was a kid. It was super nostalgic to look through the instructions! I can't wait.
  • Sewing supplies — I picked up a little bag of what appeared to be buttons, needles, etc. There were a few packages of hook clasps, buttons, and needles, all in great vintage packaging! Oh, not to mention this awesome roll of ribbon that has a strange woodgrain-like black and grey print. I have a feeling that this collection is going to grow larger and larger...

Included in that bag was this awesome set of needles. I'm totally in love with the bi-fold design, the metallic foil, and the illustration on the outside. You can see a larger version of this image here.

So there you have it. I was planning on going out to the thrift store today, but I believe that I'm going to skip it. I simply have too much to finish around the apartment. We're under a heat advisory today and the last thing I want to do is go driving around in my air-conditioner-less car!
