The Long and the Short of It

I love a good thrift day. The last Wednesday of every month is Ohio Thrift's 50% day — and normally I don't venture to go out into the crowds, but today I decided to give it a try. After a heaping cart of goodies, I narrowed it down to a few items. This dress ended up being $1.50! Great, right?

Fallingwater

I'm so happy to let you all know that we did indeed make it to Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Fallingwater today. It was pretty unbelievable and full of tons of inspiration for both myself and Geoffrey. If you're ever in this part of PA, I recommend it!

Ohiopyle State Park

All I can say right now is that I'm all-around tired. We spent today eating and viewing lots of scenic areas. I've certainly eaten more food today than I normally eat in a day, and I've got the tummy ache to prove it! But how could I even think to say no to pierogis?

On The Road Again

Ahh, we made it to Pennsylvania. We are actually sitting in a McDonald's right now using their wifi! Don't worry, we bought a beverage — we're not that rude!

Hop, Skip and a Jump

The other day when I came home from thrifting and shared my treasures with Geoff, I pulled this out of the bag only to see him cringe a bit. And that's understandable since this started out as a super XL wide-legged jumpsuit. There was just something about it (and the $2 price tag) that I couldn't live without!

Cinnamon Park

Happy, happy Wednesday! I'm happy that it's mid-week already because I'm steadily getting more excited about this weekend's road trip. Woo-hoo!

In The Limelight

I'm having one of those days where I feel so sleepy! I worked a long shift today and then afterwards did some thrift shopping. I picked up some amazing Dolce Vita booties that I'll be sharing later this week. Until then, here's an adorable 60s-inspired dress for you to admire (and buy if you wish!).

Goldfinch

There's really isn't a lot to write about today. I don't like to sound so boring, but we spent today relaxing, napping, and hanging out with the cat. We're currently cooking up some delicious black bean burgers and that I am overly-excited about. It's been a good three-day weekend and will be time to return to work tomorrow.

Cameron

We ended up going to the Columbus Museum of Art today for Geoff's birthday. It's free on Sundays, so we just headed down to mosey. There were a few new exhibits that were pretty interesting. The weather wasn't awful — mostly just overcast and a little warm.

All Tied Up

Today we spontaneous took a little trip to the zoo! The parking lot was PACKED (hey, it is Saturday), but it seemed like most of those people were headed to the adjoining water park. We saw lots of sleepy animals and the weather was overcast enough to help us stay comfortable all day.

Hit The Road

It's Friday! Pardon the terrible Rebecca Black song that running through my head as I type that, but I"m very excited about the weekend. Why? Well, Geoffrey's birthday is on Sunday and we both have Monday off — meaning we are going to celebrate his birthday at night like we had wanted!

On The Dot

I cannot believe it's Thursday already! I wanted to mix up my wardrobe a little bit today and "get creative," so this is my attempt at that! I'm so used to pairing a nude bandeau or bodysuit under lace tops, that I thought I'd throw my new zip-front bandeau over my bodysuit!

Aloha!

Remember how I was talking about picking up some velvet leggings? Where here they are in all of their burgundy and velvety glory! They are probably going to turn into my go-to fall and winter comfy item. I can't wait to pair these with cropped band tees, cardigans, and boots. All of the summer heat this year has gotten me rather excited for fall layers!

Revamping "Old" Shoes

Green Machine

I'm so excited about my new hair! If you've been watching, you probably noticed that I changed it to a big purple chunk recently while trying to bleach it out (and still not pulling the color light enough after two bleaches). Today I was finally able to pull up the color and threw on some Manic Panic Virgin Snow toner on it — wha-la!

Cat Fancy

Ooooh shoot, everyone! I decided to bust out my new and crazy cat scarf today! Geoff and I have officially dubbed it the "Feline Fanny" scarf because of the kitties' positions. Look closely and you'll see what I mean!

Love and Lace

I am so stupidly excited about today. I spent the day with my best friend, Bob. Bob and I have known each other since way back when we both worked for Apple. One day we started talking about our photography and have been great pals ever since! We both adore vintage cameras, thrifting, and Larry David — and we always have the best laughs!

Double Denim

No matter what you call it — Denim Dan, the Canadian tuxedo, the denim sandwich — it is usually approached in a negative manner. Recently I've been wanting to try the denim-on-denim trend but have been too much of a scaredy cat to do it. Well, here we are!

The Dancer Dress

Today is one of the first day (in a long time) where none of my items were thrifted! With that being said, the only piece that I bought not-on-sale were the shoes (which I still got an employee discount on anyway, so I made out pretty well). I'm going to go ahead and spam you with a few recent Instagram shots, is that okay?

Confetti

Today was pretty exciting! The weather was finally under 80°s and we had a nice breeze. It actually almost felt like autumn! After the extra-hot summer we've had, I'm totally ready for fall this year — not to mention that I can't wait to layer!

Ultra-Violet

As I write this, there's a ton of thunder and lightening happened outside! There was seriously just a lightning strike that was so loud, I almost fell off of the sofa. Kitty is just staring up at the window waiting for the apocalypse, I think.

The Necronomicon

It's Saturday and I somehow managed to not leave the apartment today! Can you believe it? I "slept in" (aka: 10am), made a few posts while Geoff went on a long bike ride and then started cleaning the apartment. I moved a lot of things around to make extra space and ended up cleaning out my entire wardrobe.

Peachy Dream

If you're keeping up with my blog, you probably know that I went thrifting with my mother today! The weather wasn't as bad as it has been lately — I mean, it was rainy and grey, but a little bit cooler. We started early and were able to squeeze in two shops, milkshakes, and the grocery store. Woohoo!

Blades of Glory

Yet another long day! My shift at work was extended (and just as busy), so when I came home I was beat! I had to package up some Etsy sales and get 'em mailed out, though, so I didn't have a moment to rest. Yikes! Plus my momma is coming up tomorrow to go thrifting and get lunch, so I can't even sleep in on my day off (worth it though, I love thrifting with mom!).

Bolo and Bowler

The bolo tie that I bought on Saturday was really burning a hole in my, um, jewelry box (?). I so badly wanted to bust it out for today's outfit and I did just that. What do you think?

A little while ago, I submitted my favorite self-manicure to StyledOn's Hard as Nails DIY Summer Contest. I got a lovely little email today reminding me that voting is now open.


This is the manicure that I submitted. I know, the photos isn't the greatest, but it gives you a pretty clear pictures as to what I did here. I completed this manicure back in March or April. I had a heck of time finding that Essie matte topcoat, too!

First I put on two coats of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear polish in Black Out. I let them dry completely and then put on two topcoats of Essie Matte About You polish. As a final touch, I painted the french tips again with the gloss black polish. In the right light, you can see the stark contrast between the matte and gloss! It has definitely been one of my favorites.

Thrifty Monday #6

This weekend I didn't really get much of a haul, simply because I was too busy to hit up the thrift stores. I had considered going today (which is normally by day off), but picked up an extra four hour shift at work this morning that turned into a six-hour shift! Needless to say, it was a little hectic and my butt is rather kicked. I did score a few awesome things at the Antique Mall on Saturday, though. Have a look!

• Frederick's of Hollywood Striped Dress - $8 — Obviously you Minis have already witnessed this dress in it's full glory! I am so flattered that it reached 130 Hypes on LookBook. I could go on for days about how much I love this dress.
• Needlepoint Handbag - $5 — I've been searching for something similar to this ever since a white one caught my eye at Rudy's Roundup in Chicago. I have been kicking myself for months for not buying that one (and it was only $18), but I'm pretty content with this little beauty. It is in perfect condition, has silk lining, and the rose pattern extends to both the front, back, and sides of the bag!
• Clip on Bow tie - $2 — You also probably noticed this little menswear flair in Saturday's outfit post. It was just too perfect to not start wearing immediately after I paid for it! The inner part of the fabric is a soft minty green. Love!
• Arrowhead Bolo Tie - $2 — And this. I can say that I have never owned (nor thought about owning) a bolo tie until I saw this. With a silver arrowhead and small floral cameo in the center, I really knew I had to make it work with something in my closet!

Can you believe that it's the first of the month already? And I thought I was complaining about July being hot — I should really prepare myself for the fiery month that is better known as August! Shoot, my cat has it made. She gets to sit around in A/C all day, get brushes, and fed! Silly girl.
