July Birchbox Review

So after a year of not being subscribed to Birchbox, my first shipment came today. Part of me was anticipating improvement, while the other part of me was a bit wary considering how dissatisfied I was with my previous boxes.

In the end, I'd say I'm split on this box. I love the themed concept (they teamed up with Glamour) of the  give senses — but I'm still divided on my opinion of the products themselves.

Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint in Golden ($38) — Obviously I just posted about Jouer the other day and how much I like their products. I picked up the moisture tint in a different shade when I was at their event in Chicago last Thursday but am equally as pleased with the Golden. I recommend this shimmery tinted moisturizer! Buy it here.

Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens ($10) — My roomie and I just had a discussion about disliking blotting papers. I'm not sure where our reasoning stems other than the fact that they make us paranoid that our skin is so shiny that we need blotting papers. These are all natural blots in standard packaging (ie: good for on-the-go), but I wouldn't say that I see more results that what I have with other products. Buy it here.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner ($15) — Alright, Birchbox got me here. I'm a sucker for liquid liners, and especially ones that come in fun colors. It's a pen style liner but applies better than the NYX and ELF products that I have. It's consistent, thick, and lasted on my hand all day after testing it first thing out of the box. I'm impressed, I want all the colors, and I'll admit that this is by far my favorite product in this month's box. Buy it here.

Oscar de la Renta Live in Love Fragrance ($78) — Sandalwood is easily one of my favorite scents and this Oscar de la Renta fragrance is pretty wonderful. While it's a little heavier than I'd normally go for, it's a deeper scent that I could see myself wearing on occasion. Buy it here.

Lärabar über in Bananas Foster ($12.96 for 5) — In my opinion, all Larabars have the exact same flavor and strange consistency. I forced myself through this tiny sample size at lunchtime. Don't get me wrong, I like nut and fruit bars and all of that, but there's something about how Larabar processes their products that just don't make me feel well. Buy it here.

Birchbox Earbuds — I wish I had gotten the turquoise and pink pair! They would have matched my phone to a tee. Anyway, mine came in lime green. Oh, and they didn't work. It sort of sounded like I was underwater.

Overall my faith hasn't been restored in Birchbox. I am happy to have discovered the Eyeko Liquid Liner (for sure!) but am still unsure whether or not this is the sample box for me. Let's wait and find out what next month brings!
