It's crazy to think that it's been a year and a half since I first met and mentioned Lulu Blossom. I always look forward to seeing these ladies at various markets around Chicago — they're so super nice and their products rule.
Last weekend when Brock and I went to the Randolph Street Holiday Market, I knew I had to treat myself for the holidays and pick up some of their products. I promised myself I would limit myself to two things and not buy the whole line (Um, so hard to decide!).
For those of you unaware, Lulu Blossom is a female-owned Chicago-based beauty line. Their products are vegetarian — and in a recent talk with Rachel, she noted that she's currently working on making it vegan. So exciting! They don't test on animals nor use animal fats. You can read more of Rachel's story here.
So I limited myself to only two — The Day Cream and the Sugar Scrub Melt.
Day Cream — $37.50
Chicago pretty much annihilates my skin in the winter. I almost constantly have small dry patches just beside my nose and on my forehead. It sucks. I've tried lots of serums (one of my favorites was the Pure + Remedy brand) and moisturizers, but nothing seems to work great for me. Well, boom. I've been using this fragrance free day cream for a week and the dry patches on my forehead are gone. My only qualm is that since it comes in a tub, it's hard for me to apply with my nails. Basically — finger goes into tub and cream gets all up under my fingernail. I'm a big fan of pump-containers for this very reason, but I'll work with it for now.
From Lulu Blossom's website:
Lulu Blossom Day Cream is loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals to replenish and nourish your skin throughout the day. We use natural ingredients such as zinc oxide and grape seed oil as a skin protectant. This cream is non greasy and infused with jojoba, coconut, almond oil and lavender water to soothe and brighten while stimulating cells.
White Icing Sugar Scrub — $8.95
This purchase is so out of the ordinary for me. I'm not really sure at what point I clicked and said, I'll try it! but I was so intrigued by it that I had to. And I'm totally glad I did. I'm typically not into super sugary scents — this thing is like taking a cupcake shower. Normal me wants to exclaim that it's too sugary, but part of me really digs it. Especially when I'm using it in the shower as it's melting and exfoliating! I broke it in three pieces (it's recommended to break it in half) and used it on my arms, legs, and chest. A few days later, my skin is still feeling great.
From Lulu Blossom's website:
White Icing Sugar Scrub Melts are exactly what they sound like. The sugar exfoliates dry, flaky skin while the butters melt into to moisturize the body. It smells just like white on your birthday cake so you'll come out of the shower smelling like a frosty cupcake. The bar breaks in half for two wonderful servings! Why does it smell like white chocolate? Our secret? The cocoa butter. It'll satisfy any sweet tooth craving and without all those calories.Next on my list is the Sugar Scrub. I'm always impressed with what these ladies are doing — their products, their positive personalities, and their reach toward vegan alternatives! Plus, how could I not adore some bad ass local lady entrepreneurs? Be sure to check out Lulu Blossom online or at local boutiques near you!
