Weekstagram // May 18

Way back when I first moved to Chicago, there was this amazing bar called Bonny's. Everyone who knows me knows that Bonny's was my jam. Like, seriously. I went there a lot. I made a lot friends there, drank, danced, the whole deal. It was the perfect dive bar with no-reservation dance parties that attracted all sorts of people. And it was stupidly fun.

In September of 2012, Bonny's closed unexpectedly. This left my neighborhood with few nightlife options other than a 4am drifter industry bar and restaurant-bar combos. There was no more dancing. Logan Square came a little too close to Footloose.

I went to the closing night of Bonny's, so I felt it was appropriate to go to the opening night of a bar that is my old favorite in almost every way aside from it's name. The people behind Bonny's revealed the new dance spot in my neighborhood on Wednesday: Slippery Slope. And it was everything I had hoped for it to be.

Slippery Slope has the same dive-y charm that Bonny's had, yet slightly upscale. The lights are red and the drinks are cheap and the dance party doesn't stop. And yes, there's still a photobooth, which I naturally had to take advantage of immediately.

If you're looking for a good time, this is high on my recommendations list. Personally, Slippery Slope and the good folks behind it have brought back something to my neighborhood that my friends and I have dearly missed. I mean, who doesn't love a good time?
