What's In My Bag // Work

My work bag is really minimal. Working a couple days at a tattoo shop is nice because, on slow days, there can be time to read, answer emails, and get caught up on all sorts of iPad-based work. Here's what's in my bag:

You've Got Nail 43 // Good & Evil Maleficent Nail Kit

I was surprised (and excited) to find that Disney, Kiss, ELF, and Walgreens released more Disney cosmetics sets this year. I have been debating on buying the Snow White and Ariel sets, but have yet to pull the trigger. However, as soon as I saw the variety of Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty sets, I didn't even think twice.

Randolph Street Market // Choice for Charity

For the past few years, I've been honored to been chosen as a tastemaker at the Randolph Street Market. Each fall, they hold a Choice for Charity in which tastemakers make their picks of the market — and the proceeds from the sales of each go to a charity of one's choice. For the second year in a row, I have selected Rape Victim Advocates. RVA is a Chicago-based charity which responds to ERs and hospitals for sexual assault victims.

Hot Mesh

TGIF! I'm enjoying some autumn sunshine today in a two piece mesh inlay coordinates set. Nice and easy.

Anastasia of Beverly Hills Dipbrow

I get a lot of questions about what I use for my eyebrows. For the past few months, I've been on the Anastasia of Beverly Hills Dipbrow train — it's the best to work with and has more staying power than any others I've used in the past.

Disney World // Day 2

On our second day at Disney, we had two parks to tackle: Hollywood Studios and Epcot. It was significantly cooler (but still humid), so it made getting through the parks an absolute breeze. See all my photos and outfit from Day 2 after the jump.

Meeting Pigs

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably noticed that earlier this week, I borderline lost my mind when Brock surprised me by taking me to a miniature pig farm. On our drive from Ft. Myer to Orlando, Brock pretended to be lost and pull into a stranger's driveway for directions. I was mid Whitney-Houston-sing-along when I insisted he just give me his phone, until I looked up and saw a sign that made me stop in my tracks.

Disney World // Day 1

For starters, I have been really amped on this Disney trip for a while now. Brock and I flew down to Florida last week to visit his mom and then drove three hours to hang out with a couple of cool mice (among others). Finding outfits that were comfy in the humidity of the south and yet still appropriate for walking around for fifteen hours at an amusement park was fun — and gave me a chance to enjoy summer one last time before Chicago delves into the cold temperatures.

See my all of my Disney Day 1 photos and outfit details after the jump!

Varsity Letter

Just last week I was talking about my love for varsity jackets. This is the one I scored for cheap at a Forever 21 sale. I've been wearing it often and can't wait to add it to my layering rotation.

What's Your Girl Truth?

There are so many routines that I have — winged eyeliner, color-coordinating my closet, grabbing a peach-orange juice and bagel before each shift at the tattoo shop. When it comes to personal grooming and body hair, I don't hold it as a priority. Sure, I shave my head once a week, but even when it comes to everywhere else, I'm a bit more selective. What's In My Bag // Florida Vacation

Hooray! I'm on my way to Florida! Brock and I are headed to Disney World and to hang out with his mom for a couple of days. Now we're trekking along on our flight, so I figured I'd share with you all what I packed for a hot and humid short vacation in the Sunshine State.

Laced Up

We're slowly, slowly transiting into autumn. Fall is my favorite season — layering, tights, boots, hats. While we're still riding out the last bit of summer here, our nights are getting cooler and I'm starting to break out sweaters, jackets, and best of all — leg wear.

Ways to Wear It // The Varsity Jacket

I have always loved varsity jackets — even though I am not much of a sports person. In high school, I had my varsity letter for tennis, but never opted to get one of hideous ones the kids at my school wore. Instead, I waited until much later to pick one up of my own.

For this fall, I bought an all black varsity jacket with white tipping from Forever 21. It's been cool enough to wear it already, and I'm looking forward to pairing it with a lot this fall.

Boots and Whistles

Can it be considered a Canadian Tuxedo if not all my denim is blue? And is it acceptable to be totally obsessed with these cheap boots?

Weekstagram // September 7

I've been admiring designer harnesses and leather bondage detailing for some time now. I'm considering creating some of my own designs for my Etsy shops in both real and vegan leather options. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be playing with some prototypes and hopefully coming up with some fun pieces!

You've Got Nail 42 // MAC x Marge

Yesterday I woke up early to go check out the MAC Cosmetics collection for Marge Simpson. There are a lot of good pieces, but I ended up sticking with the false lashes (more on those later) and the unbeatable nail decals. Naturally, I knew I was going to leave the store with these. And I'm not disappointed.

How Will Fashion Ads Represent Us?

New York Fashion Week is upon us. With every runway show, we see beautiful men and women on the catwalks — but most of the time, something is missing. It's rare that we see someone 5'1" with a a short inseam or that is considered "plus size", and some brands are viewed as 'edgy' and 'brave' for showcasing their entire lines with non-white or gender non-conforming models. Beyond Fashion Week, most of the websites and magazines, billboards, commercials, kiosks and beyond leave us with cookie-cutter models and lacking a true representation and what we as women look like.

The Scenic Route

I missed adventures from atop a motorcycle. I am slowly gaining ground on my owning one for myself. Thankfully, Brock just got his back last week and we finally got to take it out for a spin this weekend. See more after the jump.

I'm so excited to be giving away one of these Moonbeam Necklaces by Miriam Designs. I have the same necklace myself and am so moved by the process of which these pieces come to life.
