Star Gazing

This week I had the unique pleasure of going to see Neil DeGrasse Tyson give a lecture at the Auditorium Theatre downtown. It time warped me back to when I was a kid and was so very into science class. The speak was amazing and definitely got my gears turning on subjects of life and relationships and lateral thinking.

The Basics

No matter how much shopping I can do nor how much inspiration I can take in, there's nothing quite like the jeans, t-shirt, and boot combo. I've been rocking this look more and more lately. With an ever-rotating collection of boots and black denim (and a variety of jackets on top), this is my easy solution for long days at the tattoo shop or no-fuss, out-the-door get up.

Recipe // Coconut Macaroons

Macaroons (not to be confused with macarons) are one of my favorite treats to make... and eat. They're simple, delicious, and will only take you about an hour. Check out the how-to after the jump.

You've Got Nail 47

I've been a little lax on my nail art lately — mostly going with simple and minimal designs. This manicure is really no different, but I love the grey and gold combo and felt compared to share this great base color I picked up.

12 Lists // Number 1

Clear the Way and Chez Gillian have started a fun new series for the new year: 12 lists. I'm excited to jump on board with the project and add my own lists and invite you to share yours in an effort for us to all get to know each other better! There will be one list each month — and January happen to be a topic pretty close to my heart: favorite smells.

January Color Palette

I really dig Pantone's Color of the Year, Marsala. I'm excited to continue adding this warm color to my wardrobe and makeup collection. Personally, I'm really lusting for the Sephora and Pantone liquid liner and mascara! How about you? See my picks after the jump.

Recipe // White Chocolate Raspberry Thumbprints

These white chocolate raspberry thumbprints are one of my favorite cookies ever. It all started when I worked at a bakery in high school — we made traditional thumbprint cookies that were shortbread with a glaze frosting in the middle. When I moved away from my home town, I started experimenting with different versions and flavor combinations. Given that raspberry + chocolate is one of my favorite flavor combos (and at the time I was really hooked on a Haagen Daz White Chocolate Raspberry Triffle ice cream), I started making these for coworkers. They were a hit! Click through for the full recipe.

Grey Candyland

A few weeks back, I posted some grey wall inspiration. I had been itching for a change in my apartment (dubbed "Candyland" due to the lavender walls that were here when I moved in), and a neutral grey seemed like a good way to go with it. After looking at many, many swatches, I went for a nice medium cool grey. It has given me just enough change for the second year in my Logan Square home. It's fun to look at photos from the purple version and the new grey version — such a big change for a small amount of money and only a few days of work!

2015 Resolution

This year, I'm only making one resolution. I'm not focusing on my physical self, but instead my creative self.
