I had a really unorthodox Xmas this year! The best part of it all was that I though (key word: thought) it would be a great opportunity to dress up in some sparkles. I normally go to Chinatown on the holiday, but this year me, the boy, and his family went to a casino.

Okay, so full disclosure, I had never actually been to a casino before. I mean, when I was a child, my family went on a road trip across the US. We had stopped in Vegas — but I was maybe seven or eight years old and wasn't allowed in a casino. We did go in one of the "kids casinos," which was just a big arcade.

So this past week I (hesitantly) said okay to a Xmas Casino trip. I didn't really know what to expect nor felt comfortable gambling. I don't even play cards, so I had no idea what I was doing. Does Uno count? I figured I'd feed a couple bucks into a slot machine and have a drink and just stand around.

What I was most excited about was "dressing up" a little! Right? Like, I was thinking of glitzy casino fun. And besides, it was Xmas day, so I'd rather be overdressed in something fun! Upon arrival, I actually realized how far off I was from how people dress at a casino... in Michigan. I didn't get the sweatpants memo. Not to be a bummer, but I found the casino to actually be really sad upon observing the people there who were feeding slot machines lots of money. I dunno, it was a strange feeling and was unlike any place I'd ever been before.

I played a bit of roulette and lost a little cash, but had fun. I can't say that I would spend much time at a casino in the future, but it certainly was a new experience to add to my 2015!
